Barnes best traditional pub

We pride ourselves on being one of the best cosy-wonky, traditional pubs in Barnes and having been around since 1831, (we’ve got some stories to tell) we know a thing or two about being the best pub in Barnes (according to our regular Chris!).

Serving a fantastic selection of cask-conditioned real ales, craft beers, wines, gins, and more (think mulled and poured, shaken and stirred), we sit proudly on Barnes High Street, just two minutes from Barnes Bridge Station, making us your go-to local pub. Join us by our toasty-warm crackling fire for a delicious meal this autumn (trust us, our dream-about-them-after dishes are one for the Barnes books).

Whether you’re organising the legendary office Christmas bash or a warm-and-cosy family get-together before the big day, we’re your go-to, glitter-filled festive hot spot in Barnes this year. Our flavour-packed, celebration-ready festive menus (think feast-worthy turkey and can’t-say-no puds) are guaranteed to be the pinnacle of your Christmas.

Jo and her team look forward to welcoming you.

Barnes best Sunday roast

Sundays for us feel like a warm, cosy hug. Our roasts are a Sunday tradition – picture heaping plates loaded with tender, melt-in-your-mouth succulent meats, larger-than-life double egg Yorkshire puddings, and an abundance of rich, proper pub gravy. To top it all off, we’ve got a crumble that knocks-your-socks-off, paired with velvety goodness custard. And of course, a Sunday at ours wouldn’t be complete without those why-don’t-we-do-this-more-often tipples by the fire.

Doggy Loving

We’re just as head-over-heels for your four-legged pals as you are, which makes our pub the ultimate post-walk pit stop for both you and your best furry pal. Whether you’ve wandered through leaf-covered Barnes Common or strolled along the riverbank, we’ve got everything to make tails wag – complimentary treats, belly rubs, and even canine IPA (aka water, served in style!). We proudly hold the title of Barnes’ most dog-friendly pub.

Insta-worthy cocktails

Join us for a cocktail-shaking good time (the best cocktails in Barnes, no less). Kick back and relax with our irresistibly delicious, insta-worthy drinks (expertly shaken, perfectly spiced, and made to impress) as you soak up the cosy vibes of our toasty-warm pub, nestled right by our roaring fire. It’s the ultimate spot to sip on seasonal delights (think cinnamon sprinkles and zesty twists), trust us.

Private Hire

Tucked away like a hidden treasure at the back of our terrace, The Stables is more than just a space – it’s the ultimate venue for all your wildest dreams (no room hire here just fyi). From engagements to business powwows or celebrating the zest of life itself, we’ve got you covered with food and drink options that’ll knock your socks off. If you can dream it up, trust us, we can make it happen in style.

It's that let's-make-it-a-magnum time of year

Whether you’re planning the infamous office Christmas bash or a cosy, family get-together before the big day itself, we are your ultimate, prosecco-fuelled, festive hot-spot in Barnes for your Christmas party this year – just don’t forget that all important company card. Our mouth-watering, celebration-ready festive menus (think belt-loosening roasts and can’t-pass-up desserts) are perfect for all your merry gatherings with your favourite faces.

Guinness Six Nations 2025

This January, the Six Nations brings thrill-filled, heart-thumping action back to our screens, ready to outdo last year’s excitement! Supporting your team is adrenaline-boosting, thirst-making business (we get it), so our bar is stocked with ice-cold, expertly-poured craft lagers, authentic, timeless real ales, and a variety of cocktail-perfect, post-match spirits. Better yet, we’re open until 11pm for your team-spirit, celebration-fuelled evenings!

What's On In Barnes

Not to brag (we totally are) but we’re the heart of Barnes’ social scene, regularly hosting events that bring our community closer than a family reunion. From epic alfresco events in our covered and heated garden (pumpkin carving and wreath making anyone?), family-friendly occasions to cosy gatherings in our Stables Room, there’s always something brewing at our place.

TESTIMONIALS

Best little pub in Barnes. A local secret with a wonderful, welcoming team of staff. Just like the Terminator, I'll be back.. And I did. This time with my mum I tow. She ordered the spinach and ricotta roll which was new on the menu this summer. She said it was the perfect amount on a hot day and not heavy on her stomach. A bottle of Whispering Angel to wash it down with as recommended by Paulina perfected our afternoon in the heat last week. Thanks again all.

Joe

Nice pub with a huge beautiful back garden. There is also a covered outdoor sitting area for those rainy days. Nice atmosphere and service. The staff is nice and attentive. Food is 5* for a pub menu. One of the best pubs in Barnes area.

Sara

Best beer garden I've visited in London. Food is fantastic. Brilliant place for a Roast. Staff are extremely friendly. Literally no complaints. Thank you.

Christopher

I have been living in the UK now for 2 years after immigrating from Australia. I have had many pub meals during this time but I have to say this was a standout for me. The chicken and mushroom pie was excellent. Buttery pastry and delicious filling with simple but complimentary sides. Simple, tasty and delicious. Best pub meal I have had. I will spread the word and will be back. Thanks

Rachael
